Seasonal Eating

Seasonal eating is a tricky beast these days. To be honest, when we first started, we hadn’t realised how much we would depend on overseas produce. But it quickly became apparent, so now when we are deciding which lines to stock for our small shop, we look at UK and European seasonal and organic produce.

Wherever possible, we opt for UK produce. But at certain times of year (March-May in particular), the “Hungry Gap” is in full force where lots of UK lines have come to an end and the growing season is not yet properly underway.

This is something we are always questioning and are happy to discuss with customers at any time.
